IC Haiti Second Collection: August 5th and 6th

The weekend of August 5th and 6th will mark the end of this year’s Yankee Homecoming festivities. It is the weekend of the fireworks, the parade, and the IC Haiti quarterly collection. Please do not forget our struggling brothers and sisters in Haiti while we are joyfully celebrating our own heritage.

Back in 2008, when our faith community first responded to the Lord’s call to serve the people of Haiti, we did so with joyful hearts and eyes wide open. We proclaimed: I see Haiti: I see hope! We formed an alliance with the well-established Saint Boniface Haiti Foundation (now Health Equity International) with a promise to respond to the needs of the Haitian people as best we were able. Eventually we focused our assistance on their children’s vitally important need for an education. In providing and maintaining a school, we have truly been offering hope for the future of Haiti. We have also helped in response to natural disasters and health crises, but our focus has remained on providing an education to primary and secondary school aged children. Despite the recent and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Haiti, we have been advised not to divert our aide efforts away from the educational needs of the children currently attending the Father Marc Piche school in Puit Chacha and those who have advanced to secondary school in Fond des Blancs. Because of your generosity, IC Haiti has remained true to its commitment to offer the gift of hope to our brothers and sisters in Christ in Haiti.

As we celebrate Yankee Homecoming this year, please continue to support the efforts of IC Haiti and to pray for the wellbeing of the Haitian people.
